Week 7: Every Ending Is A New Beginning

Here I am, at the end of week 7 of 7 weeks to a better me. I must admit that it seems surreal, I can still feel the excitement and curiosity as I was typing the first blogpost mentioning the project and my commitment to 7 weeks of better eating, more exercising, and a change in my mindset, thoughts and beliefs.

I can put my hand on my heart and say that this “project” was the best action I’ve taken in a long while and I’m closer than ever to a better and even best version of myself. And yes, it technically came to an end, but this doesn’t mean my new habits are going away. The changes I’ve made and practiced for these 7 weeks are staying and are now part of my daily life. From affirmations, keeping a gratitude journal, meditating, learning how to  live more in the now, to exercising more and taking up running and being more mindful of my eating habits, I believe I’ve finally started finding myself, getting to know me better, understand how my mind works and what hides behind various actions I took in my life and decisions I’ve made.

Yes, I’ve lost weight and yes, I’m more confident, positive and happy, but this is only the beginning. I know there’s so much more to me and I can’t wait to see what else life has to offer. Also, apart from significantly changing my lifestyle, I feel that the most important aspect on this journey has been learning about self-love, self-compassion and inner peace and of course practicing these on a daily basis.

I think the journey into oneself is exhilarating… it feels like coming home. When we start being true to ourselves and accepting that our life to date is a reflection of our thoughts about ourselves, others and the world, and that we have the power to change one or many aspects of our lives right now, then you feel that you finally gained your power back. It’s as if you finally opened your eyes and see the world differently. You stop feeling that everything works against you and start making everything work for you. Life loves us, no matter what. We always receive what we put out… so take a moment and look around… do you think the life you’re living reflects how you feel about life?

This week I focused on the 7th chakra, also known as the crown chakra and perhaps most complex of all. The essence is to understand that everything is interconnected and to allow ourselves to open up to a higher consciousness to guide us in our lives while being grounded and taking inspired action,  knowing that it will all work out for us.

There’s only one more thing I’d like to say before I end the blogpost and the 7 weeks project. And it is that no matter what’s going on in your life right now, know that you are not the only one going through such an experience. You are however responsible for the way you react to those experiences, which in turn affects your feelings, your mood, your interaction with others and outlook on life. Pay attention to the way you react in your daily life and make a conscious choice to always see the glass half full rather than empty. Whatever happened, happened. You cannot go back in time and change it as there’s only now, therefore your choice is to live in the past and keep on living on repeat, or change your attitude and see your reality change too.
